This is the imprint I’m using for my books and which can be used on books I create for other people as well.
My books include works on software, jazz chords, life, and frogs.
I’ve done books of stories for other people as well. I’ve got the tools to do all the fun bits, laying out and creating books for print, or publication on Amazon or the like, but not the expertise to market them beyond that. That’s up to the author. (see below for my experiences)
Books I’ve written and/or published
![]() | Human Entanglement and The Spiritual Core – The latest revision of the Reflection book which is about how it’s all magic. |
![]() | Alice at Plum Island and Other Stories, Threads and Magic – A collection of stories, some just fun, others unravelling connecting threads through life, and some just plain magic. |
![]() | Jazz Chords for Baritone Ukulele – Unlocking and understanding the mysteries of four note jazz chords on a four string instrument. Various articles and videos and a link to the book available on Amazon. |
![]() | Understanding Jazz Chords on Guitar – The same information only expanded for the six strings of a guitar. |
![]() | Find-a-Frog – A kid’s book, looking for frogs hidden in a small frog pond. |
![]() | I’ve Got a Better One – This is a collection of stories told by my best friend, more like a brother, Sidney Feldman. It starts with his adventures solo climbing mountains in Africa and ends with a quiet cabin in the mountains of Georgia. |
![]() | Eve’s Eden – Eve Christoph, true love stories of a goddess dancer. This is a collection of wonderful stories interspersed with Eve’s thoughts on life, love and it all. |
Two Software Books
I wrote these books in the 1990s about the logic programming language, Prolog. They continue to sell well today.
Adventure in Prolog — The classic text for learning Prolog programming.
Building Expert Systems in Prolog — And the classic on how to use Prolog for expert systems, AI back when the knowledge was hand coded!
My Experiences
I’ve had two very different experiences with the books I’ve written. Note that I haven’t done any “marketing” for any of them, just published them on Amazon and put information on this Web site.
Three of my books sell reasonably well and consistently, and by that I mean maybe a dozen or so copies a month. Those are my two Prolog books and Jazz Chords for Baritone Ukulele. (How much money is that? $1,600 last year from Amazon.)
What’s interesting about those books is they address niche topics, and I believe people find them from Google searches. Further, there isn’t much competition for either Prolog or jazz on a baritone uke.
The rest of my books sell, on Amazon, abysmally. Single digits or even zero. The most interesting case might be my Understanding Jazz Chords on Guitar. I believe it’s every bit as good a book as my ukulele one, but it doesn’t sell at all. I suspect that’s because there are tons of books on guitar and jazz.
My other books that don’t sell on Amazon do get to my family and friends around town, and they bring a different sort of pleasure.
Stories, Threads & Magic has maybe one sale on Amazon, but about 20 or 30 have circulated around town (Amazon makes it easy to get author’s copies to sell or give away) and people tell me how much they enjoy it. The same with Find-a-Frog. I think I get more pleasure out of that than I do from sales to anonymous people on Amazon.
On the other hand, strangers have written to me and said nice things about Jazz Chords on Baritone Ukulele and that’s a lot of fun too.
The books I’ve done for others bring a different pleasure. Both Sid and Eve were overjoyed to see their stories in print, and those in their circles have enjoyed getting copies. So that’s fun as well.
