Description

Reflection takes an old/new idea and uses it to discover the hidden harmonies lying beneath the turbulent surface of relationships, love & divorce, work, hirings & firings, health, injuries and therapy.

The author, a logician, found normal cause and effect logic useless for explaining the drama of life. Instead, life does make sense when viewed with a counter-intuitive non-causal logic that appears both in ancient mysticism (Net of Indra) and modern physics (quantum entanglement).

The idea, applied to human interactions, is that we are all synchronously connected, simultaneously shaping and being shaped by the people and events around us. In this book, the idea is called Reflection.

Intimate, personal stories are used to illustrate how the idea can bring understanding and a sense of inner peace to the life events mentioned above.

More generally, the idea provides a deeper understanding of what’s going on beneath the surface with anger, guilt, humor, arguments, lies, honesty and love.

Abstractly, the idea provides intellectually satisfying insights into many philosophic issues, such as free-will vs. destiny, mysticism vs. science, why bad things happen to good people, and the nature of religious experience.

The book doesn’t try to prove or disprove the truth of the idea, but challenges the reader to look at his or her own life, to apply the idea, and see if it provides the deeper understanding the author found in his.
